In this experimental project, I weaved grass, strings, ropes, and textiles on ceramic. I gathered grass from fields and gardens, tried various weave techniques, like simple crisscross patterns, or experimented with more complex techniques using ceramic grids and structures.
This concept of work encourages slowing down and engaging in creative experimentation. The weaving process can be meditative and intuitive, allowing you to follow your creative flow.
This exploration of contrasting materials, hard and soft, strong and fragile, thin and thick, orderly and chaotic, results in a unique and creative tool for artistic expression and brings a beautiful result in the shape of colorful ceramic pieces weaved with grass and textiles.
Mixed technique, Slip casting, Hand building, Weaving, Earthenware, Slip casting clay, textile, grass, Ceramic Glaze. Photography and Styling by Kesem Yahav Designed and produced by Kesem Yahav at the Kesemy Design studio in Amsterdam.
