Intro to slip casting workshop
with Kesem Yahav
About the workshop:
Slip casting is a technique for the mass production of pottery. A liquid clay slip is poured into plaster molds and allowed to form a layer inside the mold. I use this technique to create many of my works.
We will start with an introduction to slip casting. I will demonstrate this industrial and creative process, guiding you through the casting and decorating steps.
Using existing plaster molds, you will cast two pieces and also decorate them with colors.
When the project is finished, you will leave it in my studio so it can dry. Then, your pieces will be dipped in clear glaze, fired, and ready for pickup after two weeks.
This is a 3-hour workshop covering the basics of slip casting an object.
-The workshop is in English.
– You’ll get an apron for work, so just wear clothes you don’t mind getting a bit dirty.

Meet your instructor
Hi, I’m Kesem, a ceramic designer and creative coach.
I’ve been working with Clay for the last 20 years. I run my Amsterdam Clay studio, making small-batch ceramics collections and working B2B with European shops.
I have been teaching for 20 years. I conducted various clay workshops and hosted multiple groups for their team-building events and party workshops at my studio in Amsterdam. So I bring my rich experience with Clay and creativity to every workshop.
I am looking forward to seeing you in my studio.
