Seider plate
This is a collaboration I did with Oy Vey Amsterdam.
This Seider plate is a modern interpretation of a traditional Seider plate. Through iconography, we are reminded of the struggles for freedom in our world today. The blue and white imagery blends the traditional Dutch Delfts Blauw ceramic aesthetic with the Jewish holiday ethics and creates a new approach to Judaica.
The centerpiece of Passover is the Seider plate that holds the ritual Seider items. Each of the six items arranged on the plate has special significance to retelling the Passover story. The Passover Seider has become a popular way to spread the word about the Jewish faith, culture, and tradition. The traditional Seider plate focuses on the exodus from Egypt. It is a reminder of the Pesach sacrifice, symbolizing the bitterness and harshness of the slavery of the Hebrews and representing hope and renewal.
I want to bring a Contemporary design up to date that talks about our life today and about the important and relevant things for this time: the love of nature, compassion, Anti-discrimination, Exodus (refugees), and, of course, the celebration of spring.
