Slip casting workshop
with Kesem Yahav
About the workshop:
Slip casting is a technique used for the mass production of pottery. A liquid clay slip is poured into plaster molds, allowing it to form a layer inside. I use this technique to create many of my pieces.
We will start with an introduction to slip casting. I will demonstrate this industrial and creative process, guiding you through the steps of casting and decorating your pieces.
Using existing plaster molds, you will cast two pieces and decorate them with underglaze colors.
Once your project is finished, you’ll leave it in my studio to dry. After that, your pieces will be dipped in clear glaze, fired, and ready for pickup in about two weeks.
I specialize in slip casting and have a deep passion for this technique. I’m excited to share my knowledge and help you explore it!
