There’s one pottery wheel in the studio. You’ll take turns using it. While one person is on the wheel, the other can watch or work with clay using hand-building methods or decorate his pots with colors.
During our session, I’ll guide you through the basics of throwing clay on the potter’s wheel, from wedging to centering, opening, pulling up, and learning to create basic shapes.
The class:
Demonstration – 10 min
Person 1, working on the wheel – 45 min
Break/cleaning wheel – 10 min
Person 2, working on the wheel – 45 min
Cleaning wheel – 10
When the project is finished, you will leave it in my studio so it can get dry. Then, I will glaze it in clear glaze, fire it twice in my kiln, and it will be ready for pick up after two to three weeks.
I lead the classes, I am a ceramic designer with 20 years of experience in various clay techniques and instructing individuals and groups.

Hey there, I’m Kesem!
As a ceramic designer and a Life and Creative Coach, I’ve worked with various clay techniques for the past 20 years, developing a deep understanding of this beautiful medium. Running my clay studio here in Amsterdam, I’ve had the pleasure of teaching countless workshops and hosting fun events for groups. From team-building sessions to party workshops, I’ve done it all!
